Hi, There!

So, you’ve decided to start therapy. That says a lot. Interviewing a therapist can be an intimidating/nerve-wracking experience, and most certainly one that requires you putting your needs first. With that being said, Thank You for taking the time to stop by Calm. Counseled. Thoughts., PLLC.

I am aware that this step is significant.

So, take a deep, calming breath, and I’ll share a little bit of how Calm. Counseled. Thoughts., can be the space needed to assist in your therapy needs.

Having a designated space to bring your “stuff” to is an exhilarating experience. Adding a therapist that is committed to listening and walking with you via accountability, non-judgment, and ethical practices leads to you hopefully wanting to work with me, E. Martinez.

It amazes me how many individuals living with Anxiety, a Mood Disorder, Dissociation, and/or other effects of Trauma often feel misunderstood and under-represented. Gaining awareness of this issue feeds my desire to assist others through clinical mental health therapy and/or Christian counseling.

Yes, advocating for a wholesome mental health is a stance I am committed to assisting others with. I can’t tell you how often I’ve learned of a beautiful human who has isolated themselves, harmed themselves, and more because they felt unseen, misunderstood, or identify as a neurodivergent.

I’m open to seeing you. Yes, You! The person behind the mask. The person who stims and sometimes doesn’t utilize the social etiquette that many don’t understand is a learned behavior for you.

I started Calm. Counseled. Thoughts., because I wanted to express as loud as I can that…YOU MATTER.

I’m a Georgia native, mother, and proud U.S. Navy Veteran. I completed my undergraduate degree at American Military University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my graduate degree with Liberty University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Currently, I have an Ed.D in Community Care and Counseling with a clinical focus on traumatology.

I am a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Psychotherapist (LCMHC) (#16830) through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC).

I abide by the Code of Ethics as established by the NCBLCMHC and the Code of Ethics pertaining to the American Counseling Association. I am a Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC) member. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) (#1369643), and member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

I know you are not the same as anyone else (nor should you be!), so I utilize an eclectic (diverse) scientific and empirically based research methodology throughout our therapeutic interaction. I am trained in Trauma-informed therapy practices, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior therapy, and more.

We will work together to identify the most appropriate approach needed. I believe that collaboration is necessary for a successful therapeutic experience. I value remaining cognizant of my therapeutic role while working with you to establish and maintain a safe and secure environment. You wouldn’t believe how much collaboration in therapy promotes autonomy, healing, and ongoing commitment throughout a person’s therapeutic journey.

I provide therapy services to individuals 18+ only.

Providing Christian/Biblical-based counseling is a privilege I don’t take lightly. It is an honor to assist you in connecting your walk with Christ while establishing/maintaining a healthy mental state.

Now that you’ve glimpsed a little of Calm. Counseled. Thoughts beliefs; the next step is to schedule your 15-minute free consultation call.

Let’s discuss working together to meet your therapeutic needs. I’m ready to meet you where you are.
